It’s the return of Staff Spotlight! We’re back to shining a light on our amazing staff members at Elkton Public School.

First up this school year is Mrs. Ravenscroft! Our 5-12 Instrumental Music teacher is entering her 6th year in Elkton, and 7th overall. If she didn’t up in the classroom, she feels pretty strongly that she would have been a Personal Trainer. (We believe her!) Two of Mrs. Ravenscroft’s most loved meals are her mom’s lasagna and her grandma’s waffles. One of her favorite quotes is, “hard work beats talent with talent doesn’t work hard.” It’s important to note that if you’re having lunch with Mrs. Ravenscroft, please remember to chew with your mouth closed.

Good luck to the Lady Elks Volleyball team as they host the Chester Flyers tonight! Games start in the South Gym at 3:30 with the JH match, followed by C at 4:45, JV at 6:00, and Varsity at 7:00. #AntlersUp #RunWithTheHerd

Butterfly releases continue at Elkton Elementary! Our preschool students have been learning about the butterfly life cycle by observing caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies up close. They’ve also been reading books and learning songs about the process. What a great way to bring science learning to life!

Congratulations to the new members of the EHS Chapter of the National Honor Society who were inducted Monday night! Maddisyn Thompson, Malyha Slegers, David Olson, Gabriela Mejia Valencia, Carson Nordmeyer, Joseph Nibbe, Madelyn Jensen, Berkley Hemmen, Angela Deutz, Caden Crofutt, & Sydney DeVries

Our elementary classrooms—and even our front office—have been busy caring for caterpillars as they make their transition from caterpillar to chrysalis to monarch butterfly!

A big thank you to Mrs. Trygstad for collecting the caterpillars and providing this hands-on learning opportunity for our students and staff. Students have named their caterpillars, observed the changes along the way, and learned more about the life cycle of a monarch. They’re also learning about the incredible journey these butterflies will soon make as they travel all the way to Mexico.

What a great way to bring science to life right here at school!

This week's event at Elkton Public School. Few items to note:
JV Football on Monday has been cancelled.
School Board Meeting is on Wednesday.
Friday will be a 2:15pm dismissal to accomodate the earlier Football start at Dell Rapids.

NO JV Football game on Monday vs Estelline/Hendricks. This game has been cancelled and will not be made up.

On this 25th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, we remember the events of that day, those who died as a result of the attacks, and the countless Americans who risked their lives to help others in need.

It's Elks Football Gameday! Come out tonight and cheer on Elkton-Lake Benton as they take on Estelline/Hendricks in a big DVC battle. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM tonight in Elkton. #RunWithTheHerd #AntlersUp

The Elkton FFA Chapter wants to share a fun fundraising opportunity with you!

At tonight’s home football game, the Elkton FFA Chapter will be selling yard lines for $25 each. The yard line you purchase will be yours for the remainder of the football season during home games. Please see the attached information for further details.

Funds raised through this fundraiser will help cover FFA membership dues for our students, allowing them to be members of the FFA Organization without having to pay those dues out of pocket. Funds will also help cover registration fees and other costs associated with taking students to FFA contests and events throughout the school year.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me! If you are interested in participating, you can stop by my classroom today to select your yard line, or come see us at the football game tonight. We will have a table set up at the entrance to the game.

Lady Elks Volleyball is set to take on the Colman-Egan Hawks tonight in a Dakota Valley Conference clash! Matches will be held in Colman and begin at 4:00 with the JH, followed by C, JV, and Varsity. Good luck, E-LB!

Race Day! The Cross Country team will be competing at the De Smet Invite this afternoon. First race begins at 4:00 at Kingsbury Co. Country Club in De Smet. Good luck, Elks!

In honor of the 25th anniversary of September 11th, we'd like to offer all Veterans, Military Personnel, and First Responders - from either community - free admission to Friday's football game here in Elkton between the Elks and Estelline/Hendricks. Just share your name and role with the ticket takers and enjoy the game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm. Thank you for your service!

The Elks Cross Country team is off to Garretson this afternoon to take part in the Jesse James Invite! The meet will be held at River Ridge Golf Course in Garretson with the first race starting at 4:00. Good luck, Elks!
