Beginning in March, we launched the ELK PRIDE Award process for grades K–12, expanding on the recognition program we have used at the elementary level. A committee of parents and staff worked together to brainstorm ideas to acknowledge both the academic and social-emotional growth of our students, and expanding ELK PRIDE recognition across all grade levels was an outcome of that work.
Staff members are intentionally recognizing students who live out our core values each day. We talk about these expectations regularly, and this program provides a positive way to reinforce them.
ELK PRIDE stands for:
P – Personal Responsibility
R – Respect
I – Integrity
D – Dedication
E – Empathy
Our goal is to highlight positive behaviors and accomplishments, encourage consistent positive choices, celebrate growth and achievement, and continue building a strong sense of community across our school.
We celebrated our first group of K–12 recipients today. To these students—thank you for being great examples to those around you. To the staff who recognized them—thank you for being intentional about noticing and reinforcing ELK PRIDE, because what we recognize is what we grow. And to our parents and community—thank you for supporting our school and reinforcing these values beyond our walls.

Students who are currently enrolled in the Elkton Preschool/Jr. Kindergarten class do not need to be screened.

Tonight's baseball games at Garretson are postponed to a later date.

Is your daughter in grades 3rd-6th interested in softball? See more information about the opportunity to be a "Little Slugger" with our Elks Softball team!

If you've already hung your spring softball schedule up on the fridge, we're sorry, but here's a new updated one.

Thanks to this weeks forecast, we have TWO season openers today! Softball kicks their season off this afternoon as they host the Chester Flyers. Varsity first pitch is set for 5:00, with a JV game to follow. Across the complex, baseball begins their season taking on Garretson. First pitch for that Varsity game is 5:30, and a JV game will follow it, as well. Come out, cheer on Elkton-Lake Benton, and enjoy the fantastic weather!

Schedule Update:
Thursday's softball game has been moved up to tomorrow, March 3oth due to forecasted weather. Monday's temps look much better for the softball opener than Thursday does. 1st Pitch will be at 5pm tomorrow at the South Softball Field in Elkton. Good luck Lady Elks!

Next on Tails from School, meet Mr. Harming's rescue pup, Blue!

Our newest Pride of the Herd winner is Mrs. Ravenscroft! The award is all about celebrating each other! It’s a peer-to-peer recognition that shines a spotlight on elementary staff members whose actions make our school stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.

Next Wednesday's home baseball game against Garretson is being moved up to Monday.

We are proud to announce that Kaleb Haas has been named the 2026 Elkton Teacher of the Year. As stated in nominations by both parents and students, Mr. Haas brings energy to his classroom every day, teaching in a way that shows he truly cares about both the content and his students. He does a great job breaking down tough concepts. He sets high expectations and pushes students to be their best, while also giving them the support they need to get there. We continue to hear from both students and parents about the lasting impact he has—preparing students well for what comes next. Mr. Haas is a respected teacher, coach, and role model, and we are fortunate to have him representing Elkton in this way.
There were many great nominations by teachers, students, and parents for a variety of staff members. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful team at our school.

This week at EHS!

Next on Tails from School, say hello to Mrs. Foss's furry friends, Harper and Hermione!

Elk Snapshot:
Mrs. Anderson’s 3rd grade class worked with the Sophomore Engineering Class on a STEM Project! They constructed a Launch pad with specific requirements and constraints. They then proceeded to create a rocket (their version of Artemis II) that they took outside and did their best to launch with baking soda and vinegar. They were awesome!
