Today is the last day to sign up! ELKTON SCHOOL DISTRICT 3 & 4 YEAR OLD SCREENING The Elkton School District will be offering a screening for ALL CHILDREN living in the Elkton School District, ages 3 and 4 on Wednesday, Sept. 14th. We will also screen any 5 year olds (not currently attending the Elkton School) whose parents have concerns about their development. This screening will include a brief review of your child’s development in large and fine motor skills, concepts, and speech and language. The screening will take approximately 30 minutes and parents will get to talk with an early childhood specialist after their child has been screened. Please call the Elkton School, 542-2541, to set up an appointment for your child’s screening. If you have a child ages Birth-3, and you have concerns about their development, please call the school and we will set up an appointment for a later date to screen your child. We will not be screening these ages on September 14th. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Fargen, Preschool Teacher, at the Elkton School.

Elk Nation and CHS Burger & Brat Feed

Release time for religious instruction for elementary students is being arranged between the churches in Elkton. It will be held following Wednesday afternoon dismissal at 2:15pm beginning Wednesday, October 5th, 2022. The last scheduled release time will be Wednesday, April 19th, 2023. Students will leave the school building under the supervision of a church leader. The school will not provide transportation for students to get home following release time. The following churches in Elkton will be offering Release Time: First Baptist Church, United Parish Church, and Trinity Lutheran Church. To access your lunch balances, you will need a Parent Portal account. You will be able to pay for lunches through this platform. Please contact Karla Denison (Karla.denison@k12.sd.us) or Bonnie Yackley (Bonnie.Yackley@k12.sd.us) to receive the directions on how to access an account. Please make this a priority as many families have negative balances at this time.

The cross country meet for Thursday September 8th in DeSmet has been moved to a 10:00am start time instead of 4pm. The CC bus for DeSmet will leave at 8 am.

Building Entrance: Students may only enter the building using doors A2 & A3. Students riding the bus will still enter using door B2. Door A8 will ONLY be used for band classes, lessons, & PE. Students will walk outside to enter through door A8 for those classes.

Due to continued cleanup at the school, there will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, September 1st. The FB team will travel to Tyndall on Thursday night for their game against Bon Homme.

Due to a large geo-thermal leak within the building, the Elkton Schools will be closed for today. If your student rides the bus, we will be returning them to home. Please watch our webpage and social media for further updates on practices for this evening.
