Elkton-Lake Benton student-athlete Colt Beck has been named the Class 9AA All-American for 2025! The South Dakota Football Coaches Association choses only one player in each class for the All-American honor. A senior quarterback and linebacker, Beck set several school records during his career and helped lead the Elks to a Runner-Up finish in Class 9AA this year. Congratulations, Colt! #ElkPride

Today we’re shining a spotlight on Mrs. Sorensen, our Prekindergarten teacher! She’s still a whippersnapper, having just started her third year of teaching this past fall (all of them here in Elkton). Mrs. Sorensen is inspired by her mom, and her #1 rule in life is “BE KIND.” She’d love to visit Greece and Spain, and she strongly believes “hotdish” and not “casserole,” is the proper terminology. Mrs. Sorensen shared that it’s possible she would’ve entered the aviation field, had she not become a teacher. Nursing may also have been an option for her, but unfortunately, staying conscious happens to be one of the requirements in that line of work.
We’re glad she landed on teaching! Thanks, Mrs. Sorensen, for all the great things you do for your students and for the Elkton School District!

Each year, faculty nominate students for the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award and seniors vote for who they feel exemplifies the characteristics of a Good Citizen (dependability, service, leadership, patriotism). This year, four seniors were nominated: Ashya Flores Ellefsen, Payton Kuehl, Bre Nash, and Tait Boersma. Congrats to all the nominees and to Tait who was voted this year's Good Citizen for EHS!

Seniors & Parents: There will be a FAFSA Fill-Out Night on Tuesday, November 18th at 6:00 pm in the lunchroom. Students & parents who would like assistance getting their FAFSA filed are encouraged to attend. It is important that both the student and parent attend and bring along their school computer and their required personal & financial information (details posted in Google Classroom and shared through email this week). As a reminder, the FAFSA is the application needed to apply for any federal grants, loans, or work study to help pay for college or technical school. The FAFSA is used by financial aid offices and scholarship programs to determine eligibility for a number of opportunities to help fund post-secondary education, so ALL seniors are strongly urged to file the FAFSA if they plan to attend post-secondary. Contact Mrs. Yackley for more information!
