Elkton Public Schools Kindergarten Screening (for students who will be entering Kindergarten Fall 2026 and have not been in the Elkton Preschool/Jr. Kindergarten program) will be held on April 15th. The screening will take 20 minutes. During this time, we will do an informal assessment with the student and parents will have an opportunity to meet with the Kindergarten teacher and register their child for Kindergarten.
Please call the school (605-542-2541) to make an appointment for your child's screening.
Students who are currently enrolled in the Elkton Preschool/Jr. Kindergarten class do not need to be screened.
Parents who live outside of the Elkton School District may apply for open-enrollment for their child when at the screening.

Tonight's baseball games at Garretson are postponed to a later date.

Is your daughter in grades 3rd-6th interested in softball? See more information about the opportunity to be a "Little Slugger" with our Elks Softball team!

If you've already hung your spring softball schedule up on the fridge, we're sorry, but here's a new updated one.

Thanks to this weeks forecast, we have TWO season openers today! Softball kicks their season off this afternoon as they host the Chester Flyers. Varsity first pitch is set for 5:00, with a JV game to follow. Across the complex, baseball begins their season taking on Garretson. First pitch for that Varsity game is 5:30, and a JV game will follow it, as well. Come out, cheer on Elkton-Lake Benton, and enjoy the fantastic weather!

Schedule Update:
Thursday's softball game has been moved up to tomorrow, March 3oth due to forecasted weather. Monday's temps look much better for the softball opener than Thursday does. 1st Pitch will be at 5pm tomorrow at the South Softball Field in Elkton. Good luck Lady Elks!

Our newest Pride of the Herd winner is Mrs. Ravenscroft! The award is all about celebrating each other! It’s a peer-to-peer recognition that shines a spotlight on elementary staff members whose actions make our school stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.

Next Wednesday's home baseball game against Garretson is being moved up to Monday.

We are proud to announce that Kaleb Haas has been named the 2026 Elkton Teacher of the Year. As stated in nominations by both parents and students, Mr. Haas brings energy to his classroom every day, teaching in a way that shows he truly cares about both the content and his students. He does a great job breaking down tough concepts. He sets high expectations and pushes students to be their best, while also giving them the support they need to get there. We continue to hear from both students and parents about the lasting impact he has—preparing students well for what comes next. Mr. Haas is a respected teacher, coach, and role model, and we are fortunate to have him representing Elkton in this way.
There were many great nominations by teachers, students, and parents for a variety of staff members. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful team at our school.

Elk Snapshot:
Mrs. Anderson’s 3rd grade class worked with the Sophomore Engineering Class on a STEM Project! They constructed a Launch pad with specific requirements and constraints. They then proceeded to create a rocket (their version of Artemis II) that they took outside and did their best to launch with baking soda and vinegar. They were awesome!
