Congratulations to the newest Pride of the Herd winner, Ms Leppke! The Pride of the Herd award is all about celebrating each other! It’s a peer-to-peer recognition that shines a spotlight on elementary staff members whose actions make our school stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.
All Conference Alert! Seniors Charlie Thooft and Sydney DeVries have been named to the DVC All-Conference team for the 2025-2026 season! Charlie was named to the 2nd team and Sydney is Honorable Mention. Congratulations Lady Elks - on the awards and for a great season!
All Conference Alert! Congratulations to Elkton-Lake Benton boys basketball players Joseph Nibbe, Eliot Erickson, and Colt Beck, who were named to DVC All-Conference teams! All seniors, Joseph was named to the 2nd team, Eliot to the 3rd, and Colt Beck is Honorable Mention. Way to go, Elks!

Ms. Leppke's students have been exploring space patterns and Earth's orbit! They learned about and discussed why the Moon seems to change over the course of a month. The students worked with a partner to model these changes (phases of the Moon) using a flashlight and a sphere. The students used SeeSaw to take pictures of their phases and upload them to share with the class!

Students in Mrs. Anderson's 3rd grade class began exploring Newton’s Laws of Motion through a hands-on origami frog project. They followed step-by-step directions to fold paper frogs, practicing careful reading and direction-following skills. After creating different frog designs and sizes, students raced them to observe how force and motion affect movement. They had to predict which frog might win and explained their reasoning using evidence from their observations. The project combined science concepts with expository writing and critical thinking in a fun, engaging way.

Region Gameday! Elkton-Lake Benton heads to Clark tonight to take on the Cyclones in a Region 2A battle. Tipoff is set for 7 PM, and the winner this evening punches their ticket to the SoDak 16 next week. Good luck, Elks!

Juniors Sam Stein and Evie Foss stopped by Ms. Leppke's 5/6th grade combo class to help them celebrate by reading "The Big Cheese" and other fun books. Ms. Leppke and Elkton Elementary teachers had guest speakers/readers in their rooms several times this week to help show students the importance of reading.
