Today these 8th grade girls attended the Women in Science Conference at STI! Students learned all about various STEM careers & programs for post-secondary education. They also enjoyed many hands on exhibits, taste testing cheese, & how to look for plastics in beauty products. What a blast!

Elkton School District will have a 10 o'clock late start on Monday, March 6th.

The Beadle Club will offer two $800 scholarships to current or former South Dakota educators pursuing an advanced degree in education administration or a related education field. To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must be a current South Dakota resident with a degree in education or related field, and they must have been admitted to an advanced degree program at an accredited college or university. Deadline to apply is 4/14/23.

While FFA week was technically last week, the winter storm had other plans! With flexibility & determination, all the events were able to take place this week instead. We celebrate you, our FFA members!

Want to help save a life? On Tuesday, March 21st, the Elkton Chapter of the National Honor Society is hosting its annual blood drive. The need for donations is critical and continues to be safe and vital for getting blood to local patients in need. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with a parent’s signature, and weigh at least 110 pounds. They must be in generally good health, and cannot have a cold, fever, etc. Valid I.D. must be provided at the time of donation. It is important for donors to be well hydrated and eat a full breakfast and lunch the day of the donation.

The Young Scholars Program, a selective five-year pre-college scholarship for high-performing middle school students with financial need, is the largest scholarship of its kind in the nation. It provides individualized academic advising, financial support, and a pathway to the foundation’s $55,000 per year College Scholarship. The Cooke Foundation assigns each Young Scholar an on-staff educational adviser who works closely with the student and their family to guide them and oversee the educational opportunities the Cooke Foundation provides throughout high school. The application period is open from February 9, 2023 to May 11, 2023. The Elkton School District will start at 10:30 on Friday, February 24th. Please note this is a change from our normal late start schedule. Buses will run on plowed roads only. Parents, if you know your road is not plowed, please contact your driver.

1st Round Region 2A Girls Basketball is now scheduled for Saturday, February 25th. The Lady Elk will play Sioux Valley in Volga at 6 PM. Steve Erickson, Athletic Director.
