Today we’re shining the spotlight on one of the newest members of the crew, Mrs. Jaacks! She’s spent 15 years in education in varying capacities, but this is her first in Elkton as the FACS teacher. She wears several other hats, as well, leading the FCCLA program and the brand-new Educators Rising group. Mrs. Jaacks’ dream vacation destination is Hawaii, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are her jams, and she owns the title of “Miss Rodeo South Dakota 2005.”
When asked which other teacher’s class she’d like to attend for one day, Mrs. Jaacks responded, “Too many to choose from – each grade and subject amaze me in what they do. Elementary teachers with their amazing patience with the littles, the art teacher’s creativity, the sports and music teachers with their enthusiasm, and the core teachers with their structure.”
We’re happy to have you as part of the Elkton School team, Mrs. Jaacks! Thanks for all you do!

Congratulations to Mr. Erickson on winning a Creative Solutions in Education Grant courtesy of Architecture Incorporated! 66 applicants applied for this grant, and Mr. Erickson was one of four recipients. He will be using this money to purchase 3D printers for use in our manufacturing and agricultural business classes. Students will learn to design, prototype, and produce custom parts and create solutions for agriculture needs, such as equipment parts, animal care tools, and entrepreneurial projects. Way to go, Mr. Erickson, and many thanks to Architect Incorporated for your generous gift!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Today, we’d like to take a moment to shine some spotlight on our K-12 Art Teacher, Mrs. Osborn. Currently in her second year at Elkton, Mrs. Osborn spent her first semester teaching in Ames, IA before arriving here for the 2024-2025 school year. She can play the banjo, is an expert on the topic of Sioux City, and would enjoy getting some welding done in Mr. Zubke’s class. Her favorite thing about the job in Elkton is the people she gets to work with. And, if we were required to put a wager on one staff member having the ability to befriend a zombie and talk their kind out of a planned apocalypse, Mrs. Osborn would be our first bet. Thank you for all you do for our students and the Elkton School, Mrs. Osborn!
