Today, February 2nd, is the first day you may pick up a petition for school board. If you are interested, you may pick up a nominating petition from Mike Frederiksen at the school. To be a valid petition it must have at least 20 signatures from residents registered to vote in the Elkton district and turned into the business office by 5 pm March 24th.

Congratulations to Caden Crofutt, who became the first-ever Elkton-Lake Benton student to qualify for the E-Sports Chess State Tournament! He finished in the top 32 of ALL players in South Dakota to earn a spot at the SDHSAA tourney in Aberdeen next month. Way to go, Caden!
Schedule Change/Update for Thursday/Friday Basketball!
CONGRATULATIONS to our E-Sports Minecraft team, who yesterday placed 4th in the Northeast Division and qualified for the State Tournament in Aberdeen February 13th and 14th! The team is made up of Trinity Rouge, Taetum Stuefen, Cody Dykstra, Ryan Wood, and Maddyx Stulken. Way to go, Elks!
GAMEDAY! The Elks host the Cardinals from Deuel tonight in a basketball double header. The JV girls squad will play first at 4:00, followed by the JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys. All four games will be played in the South Gym and air on Elks Live for those that can't make it in person. Elks Basketball Gameday! Today, the JH Elks will host Castlewood in the North Gym beginning at 4:00. The 7th grade girls will kick things off, followed by 8th grade girls, 7th grade boys, and wrapping up with the 8th grade boys at 7:00. In the South Gym, the Lady Elk's JV team will take on the Tigers from Harrisburg. Tip-off there is 5:00. #runwiththeherd

Congratulations are in order for four of our seniors. Ashya Flores, Payton Kuehl, Jocelyn Prosch, and Charlie Thooft all earned the Academic All-State Award for the 2025 volleyball season! The honor is a significant one, as student athletes must earn a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher over their entire High School career to be eligible. So, not only did these Elks shine on the court, but they also excelled in the classroom. Awesome job, ladies! #elkpride
